Ghana’s National Security Coordinator in the Ministry of National Security, Amb. Maj Gen (rtd) Francis Adu Amanfo, this week visited Rwanda and held talks with the country’s top military and security officials. 

Amanfo and his delegation on Tuesday, June 5, held talks with the top brass of the Rwanda Defence Force, including Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Jean-Bosco Kazura.

The Ghanaian delegation also included Vice Admiral Seth Amoama and his Chief of Defence Intelligence.

They discussed security relations between the two countries, according to RDF.

The visiting delegation also paid respect to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi during a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, while they also toured the Campaign Against Genocide Museum at the Parliamentary Buildings in Kimihurura.

President Paul Kagame on Monday conferred the National Order of Bravery (Indengabaganizi) to two retired Ghanaian military generals for helping protect civilians during the Genocide. 

Ghana maintained a small peacekeeping contingent in Rwanda at the time and the two generals were instrumental in keeping Ghanaian boots on the ground despite the UN officially withdrawing its mission.
