The Executive secretary of National Aids Control Commission (CNLS), Dr Agnes Binagwaho said that protecting children and taking those infected to care centres is a question of human rights.
"We honour a society basing on the way it protects more vulnerable persons,” Binagwaho added, further explaining that Rwanda’s leadership is at high level and we don’t have to spare any effort in protecting children against HIV/ Aids.
This year’s theme: ‘Family responsibility vis-à-vis children in fighting against AIDS,’ intends to mobilize parents to carry out voluntary tests of their children and encourage them to register with health care and support centres since the figures depict that very few children living with HIV/Aids are on ARVs.
Pastor Gasatura, one of the strong figures behind the fight against the scourge, said that the theme is in conformity with the campaign of the Rwandan First Lady, Mrs Jeannette Kagame, which calls parents to talk about sexuality to their children in order to help them fight against HIV/Aids infection.
