Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Lesotho, Emmanuel Hategeka, officially presented his letters of credence to His Majesty King Letsie III, on September 12, during a ceremony at the Royal Palace in Maseru.
Hategeka, who succeeds Amb. Eugene Kayihura, presented his letters of credence to the King of Lesotho accrediting him as the non-resident High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to the Kingdom of Lesotho.

Hategeka conveyed heartfelt greetings from President Paul Kagame, to His Majesty King Letsie III. He stressed Rwanda’s commitment to fostering the longstanding bilateral relations between the two nations, which date back to 1983.

The King conveyed warm greetings and congratulations to President Kagame for his victory in the July national elections, a sign of confidence and trust the people of Rwanda have in President Kagame’s leadership. He applauded Rwanda’s commitment and contribution to peace and security on the continent.
Wishing the new High Commissioner a fruitful tour of duty, the King reassured him of the Government’s unwavering support and cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hategeka emphasised that fortifying the relations and building platforms for broader cooperation in areas of trade and investment, agriculture and natural resources management, pharmaceuticals, education, technology as well as exchanges in public service delivery will remain his focus during the tour of duty.
Addressing His Majesty the King, Hategeka delivered warm greetings and best wishes of good health to the King, peace and prosperity to the brotherly people of Lesotho. He pledged his commitment to furthering the strong ties between the two countries and exploring new opportunities for productive cooperation to achieve the shared aspirations of the two peoples.
"It was such a great honor and privilege to present my letters of credence to His Majesty King Letsie III as Rwanda’s High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Lesotho,” Hategeka posted on his official X account.
Hategeka also paid a courtesy call and expressed gratitude to Lesotho’s Deputy Prime Minister, Nthomeng Majara, MP, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Lejone Mpotjoane, MP, for the warm welcome and wishes of success extended to him.
Rwanda and Lesotho have enjoyed cordial relations for over four decades, with both countries continuously working to strengthen their collaboration in various fields. Bilateral relations between Rwanda and Lesotho date as far back as 1983 underpinned by mutual respect and collaboration. Relations have been further strengthened by exchange of benchmarking visits by senior government officials as well as high-level visits.
