The Rwanda Basketball Federation (Ferwaba), has inked a sponsorship deal worth Rwf 240 million with Bralirwa's Cheetah energy drink.

Signed on Monday, June 27, the deal will see Bralirwa provide Rwf 80 million to Ferwaba for three years, and will in turn advertise Cheetah energy drink on the court-side during match days.

The agreement will go into effect starting with the ongoing league.

It will cover the topflight leagues for men, women and the second division.

Desire Mugwiza, the President of Ferwaba expressed delight at the deal, saying the sponsorship deal will play a role in improving the welfare of the clubs.

"We are happy to have reached this agreement with Bralirwa. We believe that their support will make an improvement to the welfare of our clubs thus improving the standard of the game,” he said.

Etienne Saada, the Managing Director of Bralirwa Plc said they were excited to support basketball because it's a game that is loved by people.

"When my team told me about the deal, I didn't hesitate because this is a game that everyone is very passionate about," he said.

For example, the team that wins the league in the men's team will be awarded Rwf 15 million, while the one that wins in the women's category will be given Rwf 10 million.
