Peace and Love Proclaimers (PLP), a youth movement seeking to reach out to people from all walks of life to embrace unity and reconciliation yesterday briefed the press on the Walk to Remember, an event they have organised to rally all the youth for the cause.

The walk which is slated for today will be conducted in light of crusading the youth as the country’s renewed hope in fighting the genocide ideology, instil a culture of reaching out to the needy and contributing to the unity and reconciliation process.

During the briefing, PLP president Marc Gwamaka pointed out how the youth have a pivotal role to play in the peace and reconciliation process as well as the general well being of the society.

"The youth are the hope for our nation, this starts with these courageous young men and women who have shown great enthusiasm in the aspects that affect their society and there fore are devoted to contributing to its welfare and progress” said Gwamaka.

He said that the walk will involve activities like matching for unity and reconciliation as well as reading 100 names of people who died in the genocide.

Each name, Gwamaka said, will represent 10,000 victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi so that the total to one million.

The walk will start from St Famille Catholic Church in town to Gisozi Memorial Centre at 9 am.

In this walk PLP will be joined by Aegis Students, a group of students from various countries around the world committed to the same cause.
