Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) is set to submit to the National Public Prosecution Authority (NPPA) the case of Solange Nyirangiruwonsanga, who is suspected of murdering a nine-year-old boy.

According to RIB’s spokesperson, Thierry B. Murangira, the file of Nyirangiruwonsanga, who was arrested on June 12, will be submitted to the prosecution on Monday, June 20.

The suspect was working as a maid at the victim’s home in Ndera Sector, Gasabo District and the incident took place on June 12, when his father had left the house to go jogging while his mother was also away for work.

Murangira told The New Times that preliminary investigations have revealed that there is evidence to suspect that the woman killed the victim.

"During the investigation, she admitted to assassinating him,” Murangira said.

However, he did not reveal much information about the motive behind murdering the child, noting that investigations are still ongoing.

The prosecution is expected to examine the dossier before deciding to produce the suspect before court.

Meanwhile, RIB reminded the public that murder is a crime and anyone who commits it should be brought to justice, as well as urging people to be cautious with their maids.

The suspect is currently being detained at Remera RIB station.

According to the law, upon conviction, murder crime attracts a life sentence.
