RWANDAN music lovers in Kampala are in for a treat as they wait to experience Mike Kayihura’s first performance slated for June 24.
The upcoming gig dubbed ‘A Night with Mike Kayihura’ is scheduled to take place at Kampala Serena Hotel under the organisation of Malembe Lifestyle, a renowned entertainment firm in Uganda that organised sold-out shows for Nigerian acts Fireboy DML and Chike.
It comes after Rwandan R&B guru, The Ben, thrilled revellers in the same city last weekend during the highly anticipated ‘Best of Kampala’ concert.
Talking to The New Times, the ‘Tuza’ hit-maker says that he is delighted to take his sound to neighbouring countries for the first time, adding that he has so much in store for his fans in Kampala.
He says that the concert is also an indication that a wave of Rwandan artistes is taking over the region and beyond.
"This is the first time I will perform my songs outside of the country, and I am happy that Kampala is the first city among many others to experience my live set. Uganda has shown much love for Rwandan music and I can’t wait to show them what we’ve got,” says Kayihura.
The ‘Zuba’ singer further says that the concert will give a platform to Rwandans living in Uganda to network, as well as share new Rwandan music with Ugandans.
