With artists on the move to release more bangers for their fans, Francis Forongo, popularly known as Yuhi Mic, is not one to miss out.
The artiste who has been in the music industry since 2017 has released an extended playlist (EP) dubbed ‘Nizozabo’, a collection of summer anthems.
The extended playlist is composed of five songs; ‘Nyongera’, ‘Promise’, ‘Nizo Zabo’, ‘My Lord’, and ‘Weekend’.
Forongo says that the EP is an authentic version of who he is as a person, his journey in music and daily life. The EP features different popular Rwandan artistes, including; Bill Ruzima, Mistake, Nillan, and Ayo Rash.
"Music is like a big world or chamber containing different realities, people’s feelings, lies, and many more, and it gives peace in different ways,” says Forongo.
Forongo, who has been a music enthusiast since high school, wrote his first song ‘My Baby’ in 2015 but couldn’t release it since he was still in high school. He was able to release his first song ‘Shani’ and slowly started capturing his people’s hearts.
"I initially wanted to be a soldier like my father, but when I took the microphone and sang something I had written, it was then that I knew music was going to be my partner,” says Forongo.
Asked about his style when it comes to music, Forongo does afro-pop and sometimes gets carried away with the groove.
He points out some challenges in this career, saying that one has to face challenges to go far as an artiste.
"Sometimes you make good music, but our audiences can be hard to satisfy, which is why we keep working hard to make our fans happy,” says Forongo.
The journey is still long, and Forongo plans to go far and conquer a lot in the music industry. "I want to be the people’s voice and make music that speaks for the people. It is always joyful to see people grooving to your work. I am a dreamer.”
