Amavubi job could be Frank Torsten Spittler’s last after he revealed plans to retire from coaching career after his one-year contract ends in November.

The German coach’s current deal expires in two months’ time and sources indicate that no talks over extending his stay have happened yet, leaving his future on Amavubi touchline up in the air.

"After my contract ends in November, I’ll be heading into retirement," Spittler jokingly told the press after Rwanda’s goalless draw with Nigeria at Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday.

Spittler, who took charge of Amavubi in November 2023, has transformed Rwanda into a rejuvenated force.

The team has improved significantly and it has earned him praise from both fans and his employers but his latest statement leaves some uncertainty about his future as Rwanda coach as the team continues its 2025 AFCON and 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
