"It was a wonderful day. It was emotional but powerful. It is so important to help these people out,” Ameloot said in a video.
During her visit, Ameloot was touched by some patients seeking eye treatment at the clinic after losing vision.
"I will tell you what I saw and what touched me. I saw an elderly lady who couldn’t see going to an operation room and tomorrow I will see the result,” she said.
"I hope she can see, move forward, and that she can enjoy her family.”
"Those people need our help, for us, it&039;s not a lot of money, and for them, it’s a big change. I'm looking forward to the next days and seeing children who are going to get help because of ‘Light for the World’.”
Ameloot, 22, is a professional model and international business student born to a Rwandan mother and a Belgian father.
She was crowned Miss Belgium 2024 in February vying for the coveted title that serves as a gateway to Miss Universe.
Ameloot became the second Rwandan to win a major beauty pageant after Sonia Rolland, who was crowned Miss France 2000.
