At least three people lost their lives and two others were injured in a road accident involving a Fuso truck and two taxi motorcycles in Kicukiro in the evening of Monday, September 9, the Police have said.
The accident occurred around 7PM in Kicukiro Cell, Kicukiro Sector, near church Zion Temple, a police officer told The New Times.
The Fuso truck was speeding as it crossed a bridge and collided with several vehicles and two taxi motorcycles before coming to a halt, according to the Traffic Police Spokesperson,SP Emmanuel Kayigi.
"Currently, three people have been confirmed dead, including two women and a motorcyclist. Two others, the other motorcyclist and the truck's turnboy, were seriously injured and have been taken to Masaka and Kibagabaga hospitals for treatment," Kayigi said.

As the investigation is still ongoing, he said that initial information pointed to the truck driver’s negligence.
"He attempted to start the truck, which had mechanical issues, and requested assistance to push it, despite the presence of people and other vehicles around,” he added.
Following the incident, driver turned himself in at the Kimironko Police Station, where he is now under arrest, he said.
Earlier the same day, another fatal accident involving a passenger bus struck a taxi motorcycle killed claimed two lives in Kimironko, Gasabo District.
The Police said that bus driver had violated a one-way street and bumped into the motorcycle, killing the two people on it.
The Traffic Police spokesperson reiterated his call on all motorists to exercise caution and adhere to road safety rules.
