Interim coach Jean Baptist Kayiranga faces one of his toughest tasks when his Rayon Sport side takes on Electrogaz in the MTN Peace Cup quarter-final first leg this afternoon at Nyamirambo stadium.

Kayiranga, who has been put in charge of the Blues until end of the season, must win today match to have fans back on board.

Large masses of the club faithful have threatened never to return to stadiums following the sacking of Raoul Shungu last week.

The Blues qualified automatically to the quarter-finals after their would-be opponent in the last round (the winner between Espoir and Etincelles) were disqualified for failure to honor their preliminary round fixtures while Electrogaz reached the quarter-finals on a 2-1 goal aggregate win over Marines.

"The team is improving steadily and after the weekend’s league game against Atraco, players have gained confidence and we are looking forward for a better performance tomorrow (today),” Kayiranga said.

Electrogaz coach Abdul Mbarushimana is eager to guide his side all the way to the final of the lucrative knockout competition whose winner represent the country in the Caf Confederation Cup.

"We have prepared well enough for this game and shocking Rayon. It’s a team we know quite well. Having drawn 1-1 with them in the league, I am confident we can go a step better tomorrow (today),” Mbarushimana said.

Elsewhere, table leaders Atraco host Police at Mumena artificial turf. The taxi-men, beaten finalists from year, are hot favourites to win this contest as they have they eyes fixed on a winning a league and cup double.

Sam Timbe’s team ousted Zebres 3-1 on aggregate while Police won 1-0 over Kibuye on aggregates.

Meanwhile, defending champions APR were due to play against Amagaju in their quarter-final clash in Nyamagabe yesterday.

The second leg matches are scheduled for July 12 with the final pushed to August 1 from July 4th.
