Two people were killed in an accident involving a passenger bus and a taxi motorcycle in the Kimironko area on Monday, September 9, the Police confirmed.
The accident, which occurred around 5:10am in Inshuti village, Bibare cell, killed the motorcyclist and his passenger.
It happened after the bus, which was en route to Kibagabaga from Remera, entered a one-way street near the BPR Bank branch in contravention of traffic rules, according to SP Emmanuel Kayigi, the Traffic Police Spokesperson.
"The bus collided with a motorcycle coming from Kimironko, carrying a 28-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman. Both died instantly,” Kayigi told The New Times.

The bus driver immediately reported himself to the Kimironko Police Station, where he was taken into custody, while the bodies of the victims were taken to Kacyiru Hospital for further arrangements, he said.
"Preliminary investigations indicate that the bus driver’s negligence caused the accident. He is believed to have ignored the road signs prohibiting entry onto the one-way street and exceeded the speed limit,” he added.
Kayigi urged motorists should remain vigilant and obey traffic regulations to prevent such incidents.
