Gospel music has taken another step ahead with Shammah Band at Revival Palace Church, Gisozi, launching a ten track album. Shammah is a Hebrew word, meaning ‘God is present’.

In the jubilant atmosphere Dufite Impanvu yo gushima album (meaning ‘We have a reason to thank God’), was launched last weekend in a packed sanctuary at Gisozi based Church.

"We have gathered here to celebrate the first public performance of Shammah Band,” said Master of Ceremony, James Twahirwa.

"I have the pleasure to introduce to Shammah band, clap your hands as we welcome them!”

At the time, the band had launched their debut album but also fundraised for their DVD.

The album was produced by Myma Alex of Myma Production Studio in Kacyiru.

The songs are produced mostly in Zouk, Kinimba, Kinyarwanda. English and Kiswahili has also been used.

According to founder of the band Ian Tumusime, the launch of the album is the beginning of their vision to tour Rwanda and the neighbouring countries as they preach the gospel.

Their success has not come without challenges, their main one being the lack of equipment. They have however been fortunate enough to receive support from the church and other individuals.

"Shammah Band is like the engine that uplifts the youth ministry so as to realise and explore their God given talents,” Robert Bugabo, one of the fans said at the exciting launch.

Bugabo who is also the representative of the youth ministry at the church called upon youth to vigilantly use their talents to transform their society.
