AS Kigali lived up to their word on Sunday by beating league leaders Aspej 1-0 in Rwamagana.

The solitary goal scored by Chadia Uwamahirwe in the 20th minute, condemned Aspej to their first defeat of the season. 

Aspej and AS Kigali are now level on 19 points but the later tops the league standings on goal difference.

AS Kigali coach Grace Nyiranumuntu, who is also coach of the national women team said that her team is now focusing on winning the league title this season.

"The win over Aspej has really given us confidence of challenging for the title,” Nyiranumuntu said. Defending champions APR are third with 17 points.
