Musanze’s dream of playing top flight football next season is drawing closer after a 1-0 win over Zebres yesterday.

Then solitary goal of the match was scored by striker Emmanuel Uwimana in the second half.

The Ruhengeri based club has now opened up a three point lead at the top of Group A with 20 points. Nyanza are with 17 points and Aspej are third with 13.

After the win, Musanze coach Rafiki Nshimiyimana expressed confidence about his team’s chances of making it to the top flight.

"Our chances of making it to the first division have been boosted by this win (over Zebres). We are very confident of playing football in the top division next season,” Nshimiyimana told Times Sport. 

Elsewhere, Etincelles beat Intare 1-0 maintain their grip on Group B with 24 points. Midfielder Patrick Kwizera netted the winning goal. UNR are second with 17 points, level with Gisovu in third. 

Meanwhile, the much anticipated debut for Amavubi Star striker Saidi Abedi failed to materialize after Union Sports coach Alloys Ntahobitagwa decided not to play him claiming the pitch was bad

"The pitch was in a very poor condition, so we decided not to risk him because he’ll be on national team duty in a few weeks’ time,” Ntahobitagwa said.
