Twenty-two Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) military prosecutors, investigators, and judges on Friday, September 6, completed a specialized training on forensic sample collection, enhancing their capacity to handle sensitive criminal cases.

Held in Kigali, the training was conducted in partnership with the Rwanda Forensic Institute (RFI).

Participants gained critical skills in evidence handling and maintaining the chain of custody, with a particular focus on sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) cases, the RDF said.

The training is expected to improve the management of criminal cases both in Rwanda and in peacekeeping missions abroad.

During the closing ceremony, Col Pacifique Kabanda, the Military Prosecutor General, emphasized the importance of proper training in handling criminal matters.

He urged the participants to apply the new skills to ensure offenders locally and internationally

Col Kabanda also expressed gratitude to RFI representatives for their collaboration with RDF.

Dr Justin Kabera, RFI&039;s Chemistry Division Manager, highlighted the significance of forensic sample collection in criminal investigations, commending the RDF for its commitment to improving justice through such partnerships.
