The 2024 edition of national thanksgiving event, 'Rwanda Shima Imana’, has been postponed to September 29, organisers have announced.

Rwanda Shima Imana festival was originally scheduled for September 15 at Amahoro Stadium but the change in the date, organisers said, was made due to ‘unforeseen circumstances.”

"We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause and sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support. We look forward to joining together on the new date to give thanks and celebrate 30 years of security, unity, and progress in our nation,” the coordination team said in a statement released on Wednesday, September 4.

However, the venue will not change.

Rwanda Sima Imana is marking its return after a five-year hiatus. Last held in December 2018, the event will be celebrated under the theme "Expressing our gratitude to God for enabling Rwanda’s transformation,”

The theme is inspired by Psalm 126:3: "The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”
