Sunny Ntayombya’s article was well written

Editor, Once again, I want to thank you for your educative article about Rwandans attitude to money! You see, I have been away studying and just when I am about to come back to Rwanda- a few things came in mind; a family, a house and just a few things to settle in- and of course I am very aware of problems we face when it comes to PRETENTIOUS LIVING!!

Editor,

Once again, I want to thank you for your educative article about Rwandans attitude to money! You see, I have been away studying and just when I am about to come back to Rwanda- a few things came in mind; a family, a house and just a few things to settle in- and of course I am very aware of problems we face when it comes to PRETENTIOUS LIVING!!

A friend in Rwanda called to warn me (seriously!) that I could hardly get a fiancé in Kigali if I didn’t come with a car because there is a lot of competition. I use public transport here in the US- just struggling to help myself and sibling at home to keep in school.

I then imagined somebody "requiring me to have a car” before she even knows my values as a potential husband. I also imagined many young men having the same mindset that cars are an absolute necessity even when thebest possession their families have lived on for years is just a "HERO” bicycle like my father!

Well, it may be too late for me to go to the seminary for priesthood but not too late to live my life, a life free from seeking irrational approval from irrational minds, a life where I can determine my priorities and celebrate my little success one at time!

I am so proud that you put your thought forward for others to read, and hope they learn from it. I just liked your article - I am a teacher and it breaks my heart to find our youth are growing up in such a "show off” culture!
