RWAMAGANA — Police in Rwamagana has detained  a 40-year-old man for allegedly defiling a 6-year old girl.

Jean Marie Vianney Bihendo, a resident of Gishali Sector was arrested last week after being reported by the child’s mother over the incidence.

Police sources revealed that  the mother reported the matter after a medical diagnosis revealed that the child had infact been defiled.

The mother further claimed that the suspect had been defiling the girl for quite sometime as the two  used to share the same  bedroom.

However, while the suspect admitted to the fact that he shared the same bedroom with the child, he denied the defilement charges.

"I was imprisoned for Genocide, when I got released I started living with my sister and by that time the child was 4 years. From then I started sharing the same bedroom with her as I took her like my own child,” he said.
