The recently elected Guild Executive Committee of the School of Finance and Banking (SFB) for the 2009/2010 academic year was sworn in on Wednesday.

The committee pledged to continue working with the school administration to ensure that students get the best services from the committee.

According to the guild president, Mucyo Mulinzi, the body will work tirelessly towards  creating a good studying environment which would benefit the students.

"I am going to do my best to see that final year students get relevant internships because it is through these that we get the best field experience,” said Mulinzi during an interview.

He also promised to address the issue of weekend lectures which have been viewed by the entire students’ community as interfering with their religious values and also organising public lectures which he said would be instrumental in helping the students attain their objectives.

Addressing the students at the ceremony, the board chairman of the school who was also the guest of honour Prof. Manasseh Nshuti urged the students to always work hard to attain the best grades.

"Being at university is not a label that you should tie on your name, but a journey which you have to accomplish with good results,” he urged. He also called upon students to always focus on their studies since this is the main reason they are at school.

‘You should be people with a purpose of life and focus because without purpose and focus, you can not attain your goals.”

Nshuti urged the guild committee to help the students do the very best and to uplift potential of the students because it is the reason the committee was put in place.

As the board chairman, he promised that together with the administration, they were going to work hard to see an end to various problems in the Institution.

SFB is currently faced with lack of sufficient infrastructures whereby some students study outside the campus. The school also lacks enough library space and proper facilities.
