The Rwandan community in Angola has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the well-being of our nation by taking the lead in supporting the Dusangire Lunch school feeding programme, a joint initiative of the Ministry of Education and MTN Rwanda.

For a small community of 80 people to raise up to Rwf10 million, Rwandans in Angola have set a shining example for all compatriots to follow.

To put things in context, according to the Ministry of Education, just Rwf3,000 is needed to ensure one Rwandan child is assured of a meal for an entire academic year.

The government has already done a lot in this regard, setting aside Rwf90 billion towards this cause which covers 90 per cent of the cost of meals for close to four million children in nursery and primary school.

Just as we rallied behind the Agaciro Development Fund which gave us the sovereign wealth fund that we have today, or the One Dollar Campaign that provided a roof over vulnerable youths orphaned by the Genocide, it is imperative that we come together to ensure the success of Dusangire Lunch.

This initiative aims to keep our children in school by providing them with nutritious meals, a vital necessity for their academic performance and overall development.

The new academic year starts in less than a week. We must seize this opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of countless Rwandan children. By contributing towards Dusangire Lunch, we can help prevent them from dropping out of school due to hunger.

By supporting Dusangire Lunch, we are continuing the legacy of resilience built by the post-genocide government and investing in the future of our nation. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant impact.

Let us unite as one people and ensure that no Rwandan child is left behind.

Together, we can create a brighter future for our nation and this is a clarion call for all of us, those in the country and in the Diaspora.
