In a significant development for Rwanda-Denmark relations, the Danish Project Office in Kigali is set to be upgraded to a full-fledged embassy in 2025.

The opening of the Danish embassy in Kigali will mark "a significant step in strengthening the relationship between Rwanda and Denmark,” the office said on Monday, September 2.

The upgrade to an embassy follows a series of diplomatic advancements between the two countries.

In January, Rwanda and Denmark signed an agreement to cooperate on climate change mitigation and environmental conservation, signaling a shared commitment to addressing global challenges through collaborative efforts.

Currently, Rwanda hosts more than 40 embassies and High Commissions, with envoys resident in Kigali, and about 20 consulates.

There are also more than 70 non-resident diplomatic missions accredited to Rwanda.
