Inspector General of Police of Rwanda National Police (RNP) Felix Namuhoranye signed a cooperation agreement with Director General of Jordan's Public Security Directorate (PSD) Maj Gen AbeidAllah Maaitah, on Monday, September 2.

The signing took place on the side-lines of the Special Operations Forces Exhibition (SOFEX) in Aqaba, Jordan.

The agreement, which was signed in the presence of Minister of Interior Vincent Biruta and his Jordanian counterpart Mazin Abdellah Hilal Al Farrayeh, aims to enhance cooperation between the RNP and PSD.

The ministers also discussed strengthening ties in a meeting that centred on launching cooperation between the ministries and enhancing collaboration between the Police Forces of both nations.

"The agreement outlines partnership in capacity building, exchange of expertise and experience, and cooperation in other sectors of security interest, including fighting terrorism," the Ministry of Interior said.

Minister Biruta and Namuhoranye are in Jordan for a three-day visit to establish cooperation in security and law enforcement between the two countries.

This development follows a visit earlier this year in January when Jordan’s King Abdullah II met with Rwandan President Paul Kagame in Kigali.

During their meeting, the two leaders agreed to expand cooperation between their countries in the fields of politics, economy, defence, and counter-terrorism.

During King Abdullah’s visit to Kigali, the two countries signed various agreements, including in sectors of trade, healthcare, taxation, and agriculture, among others.
