Victims of Kampala-Kigali bus accident repatriated

Bodies of the three Rwandans who were among the eight people killed in Sunday's tragic road accident involving a Jaguar bus traveling from Kampala to Kigali have been repatriated, Rwanda National Police (RNP) has confirmed.

The three Rwandan victims have been identified as two 62-year-old men and a woman aged 28.

The accident happened at around 2 AM in Masaka, Bugoga District, when the Jaguar bus, bearing a plate number of UBP 964T, collided with a Canter Tipper truck with a plate number of UAV 988N.

The impact caused the bus to overturn, leading to multiple casualties.

A total of 30 passengers were injured in the crash, six of whom are Rwandan. The injured Rwandans have also been repatriated to the country and are being treated at different medical facilities in Rwamagana, Nyagatare, and Ruhango.

Ugandan officials said the suspected cause of the accident is over-speeding and poor visibility.
