Amavubi Stars’ defender Hamad Ndikumana Katauti is hoping to be ready to stop any Zambia’s raids when the two teams meet in the 2010 World/Africa Nations Cup qualifier on June 6 in Lusaka.

The former Amavubi skipper acknowledged last week that he played in last qualifier against Algeria in March while half fit; a game in which he was man of the match.

Despite playing with a half-fit knee, the AC Omonio defender had probably his best game in national colors in years and he hopes to be fully fit for the Zambia game.

"I didn’t play the way I wanted because I had a healing injury but ever since then I have enjoyed my best form in our league (Cyprus) and I hope to reproduce that form for Amavubi,” he said.

Ndikumana, who has been influential in the national team since his return from a self-imposed retirement in 2008, played outstandingly as Rwanda played a goalless home draw against Algeria on March 28.

Group C is wide open as all four teams (Rwanda, Egypt, Algeria and Zambia) share a point each, following another draw (1-1) between Egypt and Zambia in the other group match played so far.

The top team in the group will qualify for the World Cup in South Africa next year as three best finishers in each group qualify for the African Nations’ Cup in Angola.
