FIBA Africa on Sunday, September 1, confirmed a new schedule for U18 AfroBasket 2024 tournaments.
The U18 Women's AfroBasket 2024 will on Monday, September 2, while the men’s’ competition will get underway
Both tournaments will take place at University of Pretoria, South Africa.
The changes, according to FIBA Africa, were made to help participating teams arrive in due time.
The initial program remains unchanged and, for the first time, both competition will feature 24 teams (12 men's and 12 women's).
In the men’s category, Rwanda is in Group C alongside Morocco, hosts South Africa and Zambia while the women’s team is pooled in Group A alongside South Africa, Tunisia and Cameroon.

The finalists of the FIBA U18 Women's AfroBasket 2024 will represent Africa at the 2025 FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup in Czechia.
Competition system
In the group phase, teams will face off in a round-robin format where the top two teams in each group, as well as two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals.
The winners of the quarter-final advance to semi-finals, while the losers will play the classification games for the 5th to 8th Places. The classification games for third-place and the final will be played on the last day of competition.
