A total of 422 young talents on Friday, August 30, concluded a two-month sports camp in Karate, Basketball, and Football
Dubbed ‘SGI Rise Up Summer Camp,’ the camp was since July 1 taking place at Cercle Sportif de Kigali (CSK), targeting children, boys and girls, aged between 4 and 17 years.
Each participant received a certificate at the end of the program, recognizing their efforts and achievements.
This year’s camp marked the third edition since its inception in 2022. Some 122 children participated in Football, 120 in Basketball, and 180 in Karate.
Guy Rurangayire, the brains behind the holiday training camp, emphasized the broader mission of the initiative towards the growth of talent development among children.
"The SGI Rise Up Summer Camp is about more than just sports; it's about character development, teamwork, and community. We are committed to nurturing young talents and helping them grow not just as athletes but as individuals."

Ken David Cyusa, a 16-year-old basketball enthusiast, expressed his excitement about his experience from the camp.
"This camp was a great opportunity for me to improve my basketball skills. I made new friends and learned a lot from the coaches," he said, reflecting the sentiment of many participants.
Aline Ishimwe , a 10-year-old Karate participant, shared how the camp impacted her.
"Karate has taught me discipline and focus. I feel more confident now, and I can't wait to continue practicing," she said.
For parents like Innocent Rwabuhihi, whose grand daughter participated in Karate, the camp was a valuable opportunity.
"The camp has been a wonderful experience for my grand daughter. It has not only kept her active during the holidays but has also helped her grow in her sport. We are looking forward to the next edition," he said.
As the summer camp concluded, SGI announced that training sessions would continue throughout the school term. Football sessions will be taking place on Saturdays and Sundays while Karate and Basketball sessions are scheduled on Wednesday afternoons and weekends.
This, he said, ensures that the momentum gained during the camp is not lost and that these young athletes continue to develop their skills year-round.
