EASTERN PROVINCE

NGOMA — Hundreds of residents from Kibungo and Remera sectors in Ngoma District who missed the first phase of the national identity card (ID) photography, on Monday converged at Cyasemakamba stadium to have their photos taken.

The two-day exercise that started late last month in other parts of the district, is scheduled to end on May 15 in the sectors of Kazo, Mutendeli, Rukira and Murama.

At the launch, Silver Ngarambe, the district director of Good Governance, explained that the exercise was meant only for residents who were registered but missed the previous photographing session.

Ngarambe added that youths who have since attained the minimum age to acquire IDs have a period of not more than two weeks to register at their respective sectors before they can be photographed.

For those who had been photographed but did not get their IDs, he said they would receive them as soon as they are approved. He urged those who turned up to sensitise others not to miss the exercise.

Close to 120,000 residents missed the previous ID photography in the Eastern Province.
