Defender Faustin Usengimana has said that he is delighted after side after signing for Iraqi side Al Masafi FC.

The Rwanda international is returning to play in Iraq a year after playing for Al-Qasim SC and Al-Hudood SC.

"I am super excited about joining a competitive football club and I cannot wait to get onto the pitch again and help my club to go to the next level,” Usengimana said.

"The most important aspect is that I have been there before, so it won’t be a problem to adapt,” he added.

The defender, who previously player for various Rwandan teams including boyhood club Isonga FC, Rayon Sports and APR FC, is the latest player to sign for Al Masafi FC.

He was linked with a return to Rayon Sports, but the talks did not go well.

He becomes the second Rwandan player to move to Iraq after midfielder Djabel Manishime completed his move to second tier side Naft Alwasat SC.

The former APR FC skipper joined the club after parting ways with top tier Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya after 6 months.
