APR FC Chairman Col. Richard Karasira has been retired from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF).

According to a statement released by RDF on Friday, August 30, Karasira is among 170 senior officers, including former Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) president General Jean Bosco Kazura, who were granted retirement by President Paul Kagame.

Gen. Kazura is also the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of RDF.

Additionally, 992 other ranks were also retired.

The RDF marked the occasion with its twelfth send-off ceremony, held at RDF headquarters in Kimihurura, to honor the distinguished service of Generals, Senior Officers, and other personnel who have reached retirement age or concluded their service contracts.

The ceremony was presided over by Minister of Defence, Juvenal Marizamunda, who represented the Commander-in-Chief of the RDF.

Karasira was appointed APR Chairman in June 2023, succeeding General Mubarakh Muganga.
