One day little Sammy was helping his grandmother bake a small cake. He and his grandmother were used to baking together every afternoon after Sammy returned from school.
As they were baking Sammy was telling his grandmother how "everything” was going wrong. School was too hard, his mum and dad were always mad at him; he was struggling with a bad flu, and these were the hardships he was going through.
Meanwhile, Sammy’s grandmother listened as she went on baking. She asked Sammy if he would like a snack, which of course he did.
"Here. Have some cooking oil,” Grandmother offered.
"Yuck!” exclaimed Sammy.
"How about raw eggs?” She asked.
"That’s gross, Grandma!” retorted Sam.
"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?” Grandmother pushed.
"Grandma, those are all yucky!” Sammy complained.
To this, Sammy’s Grandma replied "Yes, sweetheart, those things seem bad all by themselves but when I add little sweet things to them, they become a nice delicious cake!”
Lesson to learn
Life works the same way. Many times we go through such bad and difficult times, but, we go through pretty good times too. All this put together makes us have a pretty good life.
That’s true for little children too. We all have hard times at school, home and we forget the little good times that make life what it is.
Let us learn to remember that life will not always be good but the good and the bad make us who we are as we learn to solve our problems and appreciate life in general.
