Aspej 1-1 APR
APR blew an opportunity to go top of the national women football league after being held to a 1-1 draw by table leaders Aspej on Sunday in Rwamagana.
The champions took a 20th minute lead through an Emily Salif strike but Aspej, chasing their first league title hit back in the 70th minute thanks to Jacky Uwimana.
The military side’s captain Aline Umutoni said they missed several clear chances to kill off the game and they paid dearly for that.
"We missed so many simple chances in the first half and we were made to pay for it in the end. In the second half, Aspej made it difficult for us and when they equalized, it became even harder for us.
"But we are still confident of successfully defending out title,” Umutoni said.
The women league is getting more exciting as AS Kigali, APR and league leaders Aspej are all showing the will to win the league.
Third placed AS Kigali defeated La Charite 2-0 at Kicukiro playground with goals coming from Faida Uwamwezi and Anne Marie Uwimana.
After eight matches, Aspej continue to lead the league with 19 points followed by APR with 17 and AS Kigali are third with 16 points.
