APR’s Congolese international Ndjoli Bokungu bagged a hat trick as the military side thumped Police Fc 7-1 at Nyamirambo stadium to keep the declining title hopes of the nine time national league champions alive.
Bokungu, who has now notched up eleven goals this season, opened the flood gates on 17th minute thanks to a flick on from Burundian international Fuadi Ndayisenga.
He increased on his tally of the game in the 77th and 87th minutes respectively. Djabir Mutarambirwa scored a brace on 49th and 71st minute with Jean Mugiraneza adding his name on to the score sheet on 70th and 92nd minutes of the game respectively.
Former APR player Roger Tuyisenge scored Police’s a consolation on 70th minute.
The win keeps APR’s grip on the second place with 42 points intact, four points behind table leaders Atraco who defeated AS Kigali 1-0 courtesy of a Jean Shyaka goal on Saturday.
Police remains eighth with 22 points from in 19 matches.
Rayon Sport’s title hopes were dealt another major blow on Saturday as they were beaten 3-2 by minnows Marines at Nyamirambo stadium.
Marines climbed from eleventh position to ninth position with 19 points while Rayon Sport stayed third.
SC Kiyovu moved further away from the drop zone with a 1-0 win over Electrogaz at Mumena stadium. Jack Tuyisenge netted the winner on the 16th minute to lift the Nyamirambo based club to sixth position with 23 points.
Electrogaz remain fourth with 24 points.
