Together, let’s fight HIV/AIDS

Enough is enough!!! Even if one is as poor as a church mouse, money from short time pleasures says it all, happiness drops in  for just a little while, a week, a month, a year or even two years, but the painful result becomes a life time torment.

Enough is enough!!! Even if one is as poor as a church mouse, money from short time pleasures says it all, happiness drops in  for just a little while, a week, a month, a year or even two years, but the painful result becomes a life time torment.

You start making phrases like, I wish I worked hard instead, I wish I didn’t go there, I wish…………. I wish……..becomes the song of your silent and regretful thoughts.

Unfortunately, the clock can’t turn anti-clockwise to take back moments for you, to at least have an immaculate start in life.

Moving to or spending nights in expensive hotels, having fashionable and designer clothes, holding flap or slide phones or even bragging around with liquid cash is what everyone wants, but it’s not worth trading your sweet life for any luxuries or even necessities.

There can never be anything more important than the breath we take in every day, and it’s just about you to treasure it.

One day I passed by two young students. During their conversation, one said, "My course mates are used to the fact that I am the most expensive girl in my class, ‘high water’ (out of the ordinary), how can they see me when it has all vanished? I think I would become pale and different; don’t you think I would become the talk of every gathering or lecture meetings? I would rather stay with my ‘sugar daddy’ because he provides it all.”

He could also have promised that even if he died, her future would be guaranteed in his in his will and testament. How absurd! Is there anyone who was born with an exemption from work?

Everyone can agree with me that self toiled income is often spent wisely and in a developmental manner. Some people, especially girls, want to live like princesses. But remember, with poor health, one cannot be treated like a princess. So first take care of yourself and indeed you will live like a princess all your life.

Others want to fit among the peers they associate with but an English man says, "A friend in need is a friend indeed.”

That is the one who understands you and wouldn’t trick you into indulging in irreversible games in order to get to their status. Rather leave the peers and make the right decision which is abstinence.

Remember you have the right to your decision and a cool life. Life is too short for one to waste it loving and having sex with men or women of all kinds in exchange for a silver plated life.

Sex can be enjoyed later; the hurry doesn’t make it any better or any sweeter. This will keep you safe from worries and out of fear from this dreadful disease, (HIV/AIDS).

That’s what I leading to! The issue of HIV/AIDS. Any way, one will not spend all their life time crying over spilt milk. It’s not about your fall but your rise. It doesn’t matter how you got the infectious disease (HIV/AIDS), from your mother at birth, sexual intercourse and many other ways, it’s not the end of the world but the beginning of taking good care of yourself and keeping safe or even helping others not to catch this real and gradual killer disease.

One step of taking good care of your life is having the courage to have the test no matter how hard it seems. It’s better to walk a short distance in light than to run an imaginably long distance yet still under darkness because you never know how far you go and where you could go.

When you know your status, you enter the world of loving yourself more to fight for yourself and having the challenge of keeping others away from catching it.

Another hard yet important step is after knowing your status; you’re obliged to take precautions as prescribed by the doctor.

Catching this disease is not the end of the road, so no need to start feeling sorry for yourself, but adhere to treatment and keep up the fight for your life.

There is need to know that whatever thing happens in life, God has a reason for it and maybe you are supposed to be a pillar or a glimmer of hope to others in the same world.

It’s all about immediately reporting every weakness or illness to the doctor so that your immune system stays strong. Under treatment, a balanced diet is supposed to be ensured to keep up a healthy life. Note that always, eating something first before taking the tablets (ARVS) is important so that they can take fully predestined intentions on your body.

Talking to others about it is another step to taking care of your self. Man is not an island and so he lives with others, dying alone slowly is not wise but talking to another about your pain for encouragement and advice. This is a scourge that has consumed young people and it still does.

In memory of all those who lost their loved ones to this dreadful disease. You and I can stop this.
