U.S-based singer Médard Jobert Ngabo and wife Mimi Mehfira are celebrating their 1-year wedding anniversary after they announced giving birth to their first baby girl, Myla Ngabo.
Meddy, as he is commonly known, and Mimi, tied the knot on Saturday, May 22, in a glamorous ceremony attended by friends, relatives and different Rwandan celebrities in Texas.
Via their Instagram accounts, they shared a message and both thanked a couple of their friends.
"Thank you for being my best and perfect life partner, I love you more today than I loved you yesterday. One year down, Forever to go,” said Meddy.
He thanked his fellow musician The Ben for being a blessing on his biggest day. He also thanked Cedrick for putting their wedding memories together.
Mimi also went to Instagram and posted a short video their wedding dancing to The Ben’s ‘Roho yange’ in a new version that was uniquely written for them.
"Thank you for being the reason for my smile. I want to thank you for being not only an amazing partner but, also the best father to Myla. If I had to choose again, I’d still choose you. You’re the only one I want to annoy for the rest of my life. Marriage is a relationship in which one is always right and the other is the husband. You are the greatest gift of my life. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY my love. This weekend was simply beautiful. You’re my forever! I LOVE YOU BABE”, she said.
The couple started dating in 2016 and never been low-key to showing their love publicly. As stated by Meddy in the M&M love story video on his YouTube channel, Meddy said the first time they met each other, he was preparing to shoot for ‘ Ntawamusimbura’s’ music video.
He revealed that the moment he laid eyes on her, he knew she was the right girl for the music video. It took Meddy a whole year to convince Mimi to be in his video which at some point became weird for his producer.
"My producer couldn’t understand what was going on and asked me if I wanted to do the video or just wanted to talk to her. Mimi told me that she wasn’t ready to be in a video but would help find another girl but I told her that I would wait until she is ready. I think at some point she felt bad and said let me just help this guy,” he said.
When she finally agreed to be in the video they started shooting and he was stunned by how beautiful she was and his producer got to see why he wanted her in the video.
"For the first I felt shy on camera, it felt really weird. We became friends since then but there were so many things happening in my life and hers so I waited for the right time. We went on our first date and got to know about each other and it felt like we were meant for one another, everything was so organic,” he added.
