Comedy lovers will once again have their ribs cracking during an evening of live stand-up comedy on Sunday May 29, at M Hotel located in Kiyovu, from 6pm. ‘Seka Live’ returns with new local segments inside the comedy industry, but also a blend of international comedians across Africa.
"We want to let upcoming local comedians really discover their talents in ‘Seka Rising Stars’ and this is the right platform to showcase their talents to a big audience,” says Arthur Nkusi, the brains behind ‘Seka Live’.
"We think international acts are very important because local talents learn from each other, but again we want to make ‘Seka Live’ more of an African platform and a club that could host any comedian from the continent,” Nkusi adds.
Set to return with yet another fun-filled event, the show will host renowned Zimbabwean comedian, Carl Joshua Ncube, and one of the South Africa’s top stand-up comedians, Loyiso Madinga. The comedy stars will perform alongside other famed local talents such as Arthur, Merci, Rusine and Roger.
The organisers hope to bring ‘Seka Live’ every three months like it used to be as requested by the fans, and this will happen based on the outcome of the next project right after ‘Seka Live’ dubbed ‘Seka Fest’.
"We are changing to summer season, to also target the ‘Seka Fest’ lovers from the Diaspora as well as tourists,” says Nkusi.
‘Seka Fest’ is a platform that brings together African comedians in Rwanda, where they basically host comedy shows for a whole week in different places, some happen in buses, and others in different clubs. They also host a one-man show and then the grand finale which is the best comedians from Rwanda and the rest of the continent.
Nkusi notes that the shows are not only designed to bless comedy lovers, but also provide a platform for aspiring young Rwandan comedians trying their luck in the comedy industry.
Tickets to the ‘Seka Live’ show are already on sale on RG consult website; ordinary tickets go for Rwf10, 000 and Rwf15, 000 for VIP.
