As the Basketball Africa League (BAL) playoffs tournament gets around the corner with less than two days to officially kick off, artistes and DJs who will perform in different games of the tournament have already confirmed their headlining act.
According to BAL, a total of eight local artists and groups are expected to thrill fans during the continental showpiece.
Rwandan artistes who will perform live in different games of the upcoming playoffs include, some of the leading disc jockeys like Toxxyk, Marnaud, and Makeda, alongside some upcoming artistes who are making rounds in Rwanda’s music like Mike Kayihura, pioneer of Kinyatrap, Bushali, and Ruti Joel, who is best known for his single, ‘Igikobwa’, that made him rose to stardom.
Others include Ish Kevin, who is currently regarded as the face of the new generation in Rwanda's music scene making new genres such as drill, trap and afro trap.
BAL also revealed that Mashirika drama group, popularly known for being at the forefront of using theatre for development and using art in various forms to tell the message of Rwanda will be performing at the playoffs.
On the first game scheduled for May 21, the New Times learnt that Ruti Joel, Mashirika team, Toxxyk, and Ish kevin will be the first to perform for game one revellers.
From May 22 - 25, celebrated female disc jockey, Makeda, will be the main disc jockey of the league, while from May25 to 27 DJ Marnaud will be the man behind the decks.
Other fun activities that will be held during the playoffs include outside events which will take place in different pubs and clubs of Rwanda that aim to attract fans from different countries who will be in Kigali for BAL.
Among them is A-Bal chop-life Rwanda party that will be hosted by Uganda’s famous host, Sheilah Gashumba. The party is expected to take place at a famous spot in Kigali dubbed ‘Calabash’ next Friday, May 27.
