The Zone 5 games draw on Thursday, October 20, put the Rwanda national under-18 and under-20 handball teams in group A and B, respectively.
The regional games (IHF Challenge Trophy) scheduled for October 25-30, will be played in Nairobi, Kenya. The National Under-18 team is in Group A alongside Uganda, Burundi and Somalia. Group B has Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti and South Sudan.
The under-20 team is in Group B with Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia. Group includes Kenya, Uganda, Burundi and South Sudan.
On October 25, the under-18 national team will play their first match against Burundi. The under-20s will play their first match against Djibouti on October 25.
The two teams continue their training camp which started on October 15 at the University of Rwanda, in Huye District.
The last IHF Challenge Trophy tournament held in 2019 was won by Rwanda. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the tournament was not played in 2020 and 2021.
