The Rwanda Premier League title remains up in the air after Kiyovu SC on Saturday beat APR FC 2-1 in a season-defining match l at Kigali Stadium.
Abedi Bigirimana gave the Green Baggies the lead through a spot kick after 18 minutes of play after striker Emmanuel Okwi was brought down in the penalty area as a result of an early high pressing game imposed on APR players.
Okwi, who arguably put in a man-of-the-match performance, added the second goal after 29 minutes to keep his side in control of the game before half-time.
Francis Haringingo's players could have scored more goals in the first half if they had been more ruthless given the fact that they had superior ball possession early on.
But it was Adil Erradi Muhammed's side that dominated the second half as the Moroccan made key changes by bringing in Innocent Nshuti, who came on at the beginning of the second half, Lague Byiringiro, Anicet Ishimwe to reinforce his attack that looked to help the team bounce back.
The army side's young attackers put pressure on Kiyovu defenders until Fitina Ombolenga pulled one back after 58 minutes.
Kiyovu could have scored the third goal when Bienvenu Mugenzi lobbed goalkeeper Pierre Ishimwe only for APR defenders to clear the ball close from the goal line.
Kiyovu took home the victory to go level on points with APR at 60 points but Omborenga's consolation goal kept the army side at the top of the table on goal difference.
As it stands after match day 27:
1. APR FC 60pts (+23)
2. Kiyovu Sports 60pts (+22)
