The Kigali Arena in partnership with the Rwanda Automobile Club (RAC), will launch state-of-the-art E-sports studio on May 9 at the Kigali Arena.

E-Sport is a video game which accommodates most of the usual sports disciplines such as racing, football and basketball.

The studio will allow gamers to enjoy the latest games such as WRC9 (World Rally Championship 9), Formula1, Dirt Racing, NBA (National Basketball Association), and FIFA among others.

The e-sports studio will especially be used to promote motorsports from the grassroots by using racing simulators, together with video games. The gaming setup is based on a digital console, gamers can play individually or play in an online community.

This is a new category of motorsport; E-Sports is one of the fastest-growing disciplines worldwide in motorsport, having been certified by the International Federation of Motorsport in 2018.

This dedicated community of online racers the world over often produces real-life racing drivers.

"The Space will be primarily used to promote motorsport from the grassroots using cars simulators but will also be able to accommodate other games,” Christian Gakwaya, the President of Rwanda Automobile Club said.

"Video gaming is common but the e-sports studio we are setting up here at the Kigali Arena is a first of its kind and this is part of our mission as the Kigali Arena team, to create premium entertainment venue,” Kyle Schofield, the Managing Director of QA Venue Solutions, who manages the Kigali Arena revealed.

Anyone from age six is welcome to join in on the fun. Opening days will be Tuesday to Sunday, prior bookings are necessary so make sure that you contact the Kigali Arena before going there.

There are also monthly subscription options for those who want to make this their regular playground.
