APR midfielder Moses Odhiambo has been excluded from Kenya’s Harambee Stars squad to face Nigeria’s Super Eagles in their Group Two 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations’ qualifier scheduled for June 5 in Abuja.
The stylish winger has been impressive in APR’s two victories in the MTN Peace Cup but Harambee Stars coach Antoine Hey has not been convinced by the former Simba star.
The Germany born coach summoned a 23-man provisional squad which will go to train in Germany for two weeks before heading to Abuja for their next World Cup qualifying tie against Nigeria.
Overlooked are Petro Atletico’s (Angola) Allan Wanga, until recently Kenya’s number three choice striker, custodian Duncan Ochieng, midfielder Austin Makacha, who joined Swedish club Ik Sirius, Kenyan-born English forward Taiwo Atieno whose glowing media reviews flattered to deceive and Sher Karuturi’s custodian Noah Ayuko.
The duo making a comeback to the squad are Edgar Ochieng’, who captained the side during the regional tournament in Uganda early this year where Kenya finished second and former APR veteran midfielder Titus Mulama.
Wanyama and Sofapaka skipper James Situma are the new faces in the national team, while veteran Ibrahim Shikanda (Azam) and Mike Baraza (Yanga) are making a comeback.
