THE MISS UNIVERSITY AFRICA representatives in Rwanda have launched the search for a candidate who will represent the country at the beauty pageant this year.
The competition brings together contestants from universities across the continent.
Interested contestants, according to sources, will apply through an online platform and fill in their details (age, height, waist size, school, ...) with the application line due to close on May 31.
The annual competition, initiated by Nigerian businessman Taylor Nazzal in 2010, is usually held in Nigeria. Dates for the 2022 edition have not yet been announced.
This year will mark the fifth time Rwanda is represented in the pageant after 2012, 2017, 2018 and 2021 when Phionah Umwiza finished in fourth place.
Umwiza was Miss Rwanda's first runner-up in 2020.
Rwanda’s other previous representatives include Aurore Mutesi (2012), Linda Umutoniwase (2017) and Shanitah Umunyana in 2018.
