RWANDAN traditional singer Intore Massamba is expected to perform at the highly-hyped birthday party of Lt. Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Senior Presidential Advisor in Charge of Special Operations and the Commander of Uganda’s Land Forces.
The Ugandan general and son of President Yoweri Museveni, has in recent days been posting about his hyped 48th birthday set for April 24, sharing updates on the organisation.
On Sunday, Muhoozi, who is back on Twitter after a short break, announced the news of Massamba’s performance himself, adding that he cannot wait to dance to his songs.
"Glad to announce that Rwanda’s greatest artiste, Massamba Intore, will perform at my birthday. Can’t wait to dance to my favourite tune ‘Inkotanyi cyane’,” Muhoozi tweeted. He is expected to hold two events, one a pre-birthday celebration and the birthday celebration itself.
The pre-birthday ‘Kasiki’ will be held at Lugogo Cricket Oval on April 23 while his father will host an official dinner at State House on April 24.
Efforts to speak to Massamba on phone about the forthcoming performance in Uganda were futile, but a close source confirmed that Massamba was contacted by Muhoozi’s minders who informed him of the general’s wish.
The singer is said to be over the moon about the performance as Rwanda and Uganda look to fully normalise relations. Massamba will reportedly perform at both events. It is not yet clear how much he will be paid.
Also expected to perform at the event include Ugandan legends Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool. Massamba will be the latest Rwandan artiste to perform in Kampala since the restoration of ties, after Charly na Nina.
Muhoozi has been credited for driving the relations towards full restoration with his recent trips to Kigali.
Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool (below) are also expected to perform.
