Rwanda Energy Group (REG) basketball club has appointed Ogoh Odaudu as their new head coach ahead of the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL) playoffs, which are set to begin on August 30.

Odaudu, 42, recently led Nigerian giants Rivers Hoopers to their first-ever Basketball Africa League (BAL) playoffs, before the team went on to secure a third-place finish in the 2024 season. He was subsequently named the BAL 2024 Coach of the Year,

He is already in the country and is expected to immediately lead club’s training sessions in preparations for the playoffs.

"Odaudu arrived today, and we will hold a meeting with the team to finalize his role in the upcoming playoff games,” club president Joseph Ntwali told Times Sport.

Besides his tenure at Rivers Hoopers, Odaudu has also served as an assistant coach for the Nigerian national team.

In the upcoming RBL playoffs, REG will face APR, while the Patriots will go up against Kepler in the semi-finals of the best-of-five series.
