Gasogi United interim coach Shaban Mbarushimana says his side will be looking for victory – and to frustrate SC Kiyovu – when the two sides square off on Friday.

The game gets underway at 3pm CAT, at Kigali Stadium.

SC Kiyovu, who are challenging for their first league title in 29 years, go into the league clash against Gasogi with two clear at the top and a win would lift them to five points ahead of second-placed APR who face Bugesera on Sunday.

"This game means a lot for SC Kiyovu, but we also a mission of our own,” Mbarushimana said. "Victory would see us climb from 11th and ninth place, so we will fight very hard for the three points.”

The first-leg encounter of the two teams ended in a 1-all draw last December.

"We will not be there to gift Kiyovu points.”

At 50 points after 22 matches this season, Kiyovu have only lost twice, registered five draws and won 15 games. They have not lifted the league title since 1993 when they clinched it unbeaten.

In a separate interview, Kiyovu manager Francis Haringingo said that his players are ready and will be looking for nothing but a win against ‘stubborn’ Gasogi.

"Our players are ready. We want all the points against stubborn Gasogi and keep the momentum for the remaining (7) fixtures this season,” said the Burundi-born tactician.

Elsewhere on Friday, Etoile de l’Est play away to Rutsiro in a battle to avoid relegation, while Police will be up against Musanze.
