Semi-final action by a Rwandan club in the prestigious Africa Men Club Volleyball Championship remains elusive.

APR are the latest victim after being bashed in the quarter-finals of the ongoing Africa Men Club Championship in Cairo, Egypt.

Having lost the first set against Al Ahly Tripoli of Libya (12-25), the national league champions fought back with a 25-19 victory in the second set.

Unfortunately, the fight-back was short-lived as the Libyan side cruised through in the next two sets (25-16 and 25-19) to seal off their semi-final slot after a 3-1 set victory.

APR will now play Sonel of Cameroon as they chase for a top six which in itself would be a new national club record.

Sonel lost in straight sets (25-20, 25-13, 25-16) against eight-time record champions Al Ahly of Egypt.

In the other quarter-final ties, defending champions Zamalek made light work of Douala of Cameroon 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-17) while FAP of Cameroon had to fight hard before ejecting Kenya’s GSU in a thriller five setter 3-2 (23-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-18, 15-10).

In the semi-finals, Al Ahly of Egypt come against their Libyan counterparts (Al Ahly of Tripoli) while FAP of Cameroon tests Zamalek.
