Katauti blasts Rayon’s ‘unprofessionalism’

Amavubi Stars defender Hamad Ndikumana "Katauti” has blamed Rayon Sport’s current woes on what he described as ‘lack of professionalism’.

The former Amavubi Stars captain criticized his former club for practicing unprofessionalism which he says has led to chaos on and off the field as well as internal wrangles for power among the top brass.

In an exclusive interview with Times Sport, the Cyprus based pro said that Rayon’s problems will never end unless the administrative structures are restructured.

"It’s like Rayon Sport has no structured administration which clearly underlines the duties of their manager (Raoul Shungu). No player will want to play under this mediocrity.

"It is so unprofessional to say that Shungu didn’t buy skillful players when given money. Why is it that the club coming up with these accusations at the end of this season when there is no room for improvement?

"How can they (Rayon) want to sign new players when they are not even taking care of ones they already have?

Ndikumana wondered, adding that players should be given enough incentive to die for a cause.

Ndikumana, 30, who plays for AC Omonio in the Cyprus first division, noted that Rayon administrators should first harmonize its relationship with the playing and technical staff (pay salaries on time).

The veteran defender was reacting on the recent club’s ‘last warning’ call to Shungu for every mistake he has allegedly committed during his second spell at the club.

The DR Congo born Coach has been blamed for the loss of Rwf15,000,000 on foreign players some of whom have deserted the team with outrageous monthly wages.

The club has also indicted Shungu for spreading bad politics between the players and his assistant Jean Baptist Kayiranga, whom he is accusing of insubordination.

The Blues also accuse their coach of causing bad blood between the club and the football federation, Ferwafa.

Shungu is Rayon’s most successful coach having won them four league titles (1997, 1998, 2002 and 2004), one Cecafa Club championship (1998).

After guiding the club to the 2004 league title, he left for greener pastures in Seychelles where he worked as their technical director until his return (to Rayon) last season.
