On Thursday, April 7, Rwanda was joined by the global community to mark the 28th commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
Speaking at the Kigali Genocide Memorial as the country started the 100 days of remembrace, President Kagame said that every year that passes after the Genocide makes Rwandans stronger and better.
"But the most important thing is that these very hard, bad lessons should never be wasted. For the past 28 years, every year that passes makes us stronger and better people,” Kagame said.
On the same day, Rwandans and friends of Rwanda across the globe held commemoration events and sent in messages of comfort for survivors.
On the following day, April 8, the DR Congo President Félix Tshisekedi signed the Treaty of accession by his country to the East African Community (EAC), becoming its seventh member state.
This event which took place in Nairobi, Kenya, was attended by the host and Chairperson of the EAC Heads of State Summit, President Uhuru Kenyatta as well Presidents Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda.
Earlier in the week, President Kagame had arrived in Zambia’s touristic capital, Livingstone for a two-day State Visit where he was received by his Zambian counterpart, President Hakainde Hichilema.
His visit saw several MoUs signed, among other milestones.
The week was sealed by the marking of Palm Sunday by Christians, who were also seen in different parts of the city with palm branches ahead of the celebration of Easter Sunday which is due this week.

The EAC joined the international community and people of Rwanda to commemorate the Genocide against the Tutsi. The event was preceded by a walk to remember and laying of wreaths at the Commemoration monument at the Headquarters.

President Kagame attended the signing ceremony hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta and attended by Presidents Museveni and Tshisekedi.
President Kagame and President Hichilema preside over the signing of bilateral agreements on taxation, immigration, health, investment promotion, agriculture, fisheries and livestock.
