Gibson, Hamrouni eye back-to-back J60 trophies ahead of Saturday's finals

Canadian Jay Lin Gibson and Tunisian Nadine Hamrouni have once again proven their dominance at the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors (Grade 4) at IPRC-Kigali Ecology Tennis Courts, advancing to finals of the second week of the tournament which concludes Saturday, August 24.

Gibson booked his place in the boys' singles final after a hard-fought victory over Poland's Juliusz Stanczyk. The Canadian on Friday came back from a set down to win the semifinal thriller in three sets 2-6, 6-0, 6-3. He will face Stanczyk countryman Wiktor Jez who qualified for the final after overcoming Japan’s Eiji Fujita in two straight sets 7-6 (2), 6-3.

In the girls' competition, top-seed Hamrouni continued her impressive run by defeating Leila Akhmetova 6-3, 6-4 in the last four game to secure her spot in the final.

She now has her eyes set to winning the second straight trophy in as many weeks but with a final battle against Mexico’s Romina Dominguez Garcia who comfortably dispatched India's Sreemanya Reddy Anguonda 6-3, 6-0 in the semifinals.

Both Gibson and Hamrouni are defending their Week I titles which they won on Saturday, August 17, after defeating Burundi’s Allan Gatoto and Belgian Anouk Vandevelde in the finals respectively.

The ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors (Grade 4) tournament, which runs from August 19 to 24, offers young athletes a valuable opportunity to earn ranking points toward their professional careers, with the winners set to receive 60 points and the runners-up 36 points.
